Mapusa November 22, 2025: In a glittering ceremony, St. Britto High School, Mapusa, shone bright as it felicitated Rev. Dr. Richard Anthony D’Souza SJ, a proud alumnus, on his appointment as Director of the Vatican Observatory, Vatican City State.

The ceremony was attended by prominent dignitaries, including  mapusa  MLA Joshua Dsouza GSIDC chairman and calangute  MLA  Michael Lobo, and MLA Aldona,  Shri Carlos Ferreira, who lauded Dr. D’Souza’s achievement and praised the school’s commitment to excellence.

It was a proud moment  to witness Rev. Dr. Richard D’Souza’s remarkable achievement. My heartfelt best wishes to him as he takes on this prestigious global role, inspiring students and reflecting the excellence of our institution’ said Mapusa MLA Joshua Dsouza

The event, organised by the Britto’s Old Boys Association (OBA) and school management, was a testament to Dr. D’Souza’s trailblazing journey from of Goa to the hallowed halls of the Vatican. As the first Goan to hold this prestigious position, Dr. D’Souza’s achievement is a beacon of pride for the state and the nation.

“I am humbled by the overwhelming support and encouragement I’ve received from my alma mater and the people of Goa,” said Dr. D’Souza, beaming with pride. “This appointment is not just a recognition of my work, but also a testament to the excellent education I received at St. Britto’s.”
