“Lawlessness in Goa: AAP Demands Home Minister’s resignation Over Rising Crime Wave”

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demanded the resignation of Goa’s Home Minister, citing a “complete collapse of law and order” in the state. A delegation met Governor Shri Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju, highlighting the recent surge in violent crimes, including armed dacoities, burglaries, and assaults.

AAP argues that Goa needs a full-time Home Minister, as Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, who currently holds the portfolio, is allegedly “busy with PR events while crime spirals out of control”. The party’s MLA Venzy Viegas stated that the governor should summon the chief minister and question him over the law and order situation ¹.

This development comes amid rising concerns over safety in Goa, with recent incidents including a dacoity at a seventh-floor apartment in Vasco, following similar cases in Dona Paula and Mapusa. The Congress party has also demanded Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s intervention, citing police inefficiency and urging security audits ² ³.
