The Heritage First Festival returns for its second edition with 41 walks and workshops scheduled to be held across the state over 3 weeks. Organised by non-profit organisation Heritage First Goa (HFG) the events will be held from November 15 to December 7, 2025 to help preserve and popularise Goa’s distinctive heritage.

November 21
Nature Walk – Quitla
Explore Goa’s beautiful backyards with this nature trail through the 3.5 km off-road journey and discover hidden biodiversity with nature enthusiast, seasoned adventurer and experimental facilitator Bipin. With binoculars and magnifying glasses in
hand, observe the rich flora, fauna and fungi that thrive along the way. Bring your own snacks and enjoy a picnic to connect with nature.

Art Deco Walk – Panaji
Walk through the heart of Panaji to discover the architectural gems that adorn our streets, showcasing the glamour of the Art Deco era, guided by vinyl collector, music archivist, art deco and heritage enthusiast, Leaxan Freitas. From ornate facades to local influences, listen to the history and stories behind these beautiful structures.

Night Walk – Panaji
Stroll through the historic neighborhood of Panaji at night and listen to stories of how this riverside capital was born, with architect and heritage enthusiast Pritha Sardessai. Discover how forgotten quarters have found new lease on life after dark, blending heritage and an ever-evolving cityscape.

Khazan Walk – Chorao
Join in for an interactive walk through Goa’s thriving mangroves to unravel their fascinating inhabitants. Guided by wildlife conservationists Killian Hughes and Katrina Fernandez, learn about these vital ecosystems, how researchers study species in the field and witness conservation in action. You might even spot the smoothcoated otter or a basking mugger crocodile along the way.

History Walk – Vasco
Join in this heritage walk through Vasco with engineer and heritage enthusiast Tejas Pandit. Explore the planned city, beginning with St. Andrew’s Church, through Swatantra Path, the Damodar Temple which hosts the 126-year-old Vasco Saptah, the restored clock tower, to the lively municipal market, uncovering stories of Goa’s freedom movement in this port city.

November 23
Petroglyphs Workshop – Usgaimal
Journey through the ancient rock carvings along the banks of the Kushavati River with artist, sculptor, prehistoric art observer, Onkar Kshirsagar. Learn about the creativity of our ancestors and the vast passage of time, connecting present to distant past in a silent, powerful way while observing the petroglyphs of humans, animals, spirals and labyrinths lie etched into red laterite stone.

Sand Dunes – Miramar
Explore the area where the land meets the sea and learn about the sand dunes that are shifting ecosystems that host unique species. Walk down Miramar beach with a former scientist, Dr. Antonio Mascarenhas and Marine Ecologist Gabriella D’Cruz who will show you how to identify different kinds of dunes and teach you how to build one too.
