Mapusa District Hospital Gets a Much-Needed Upgrade: New 20-Unit Morgue on the Way
Mapusa: The North Goa District Hospital in Mapusa is set to receive a significant upgrade with the construction of a new morgue, doubling its current capacity to 20 units. This development is expected to bring relief to residents of Bardez and Pernem, who have been facing difficulties due to the hospital’s limited morgue capacity.
GSIDC Chairman Michael Lobo emphasized the importance of this upgrade, stating, “The upgradation of the morgue and increasing the capacity to 20 was the need of the hour. It’s a basic necessity.” The project has been prioritized, with Lobo meeting with the Chief Minister and Health Minister to secure approval ¹.
The new morgue will not only benefit locals but also reduce the burden on Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim, which is often the only alternative for those seeking morgue services. Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza welcomed the development, acknowledging the efforts of GSIDC Chairman Michael Lobo.
The upgrade is part of a broader plan to enhance hospital infrastructure, including roof repair works. This initiative aims to improve healthcare services in the region, providing better facilities for residents and visitors ali
