Ayaan Sood, Actor Sonu Sood’s Son, Wins ‘Compassionate Youth Award’ From PETA India in Time for Children’s Day

Mumbai – Ahead of Children’s Day (14 November), a Compassionate Youth Award is on the way from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals India (PETA India) to 17-year-old Ayaan Sood, son of actor and longtime PETA India friend and vegetarian Sonu Sood, in recognition of his generous work to support community animals.

For years, Ayaan has been regularly feeding community dogs and cats and providing them with fresh water. He also donates food to poor families who struggle to feed their own companion animals. In 2021, Ayaan adopted an Indie dog, since named Naruto, who was stranded alone on the streets of Alibaug, and as a young child, he and Sonu rescued an injured pigeon whom they discovered while playing cricket.

“Life is a little bit easier for community animals thanks to Ayaan, who is following in his father’s compassionate footsteps,” says PETA India Vice President of Celebrity and Public Relations Sachin Bangera. “This Children’s Day, PETA India celebrates Ayaan and all young people who are kind to animals, and we urge people of all ages to practise kindness, as he does.”

To create a compassionate next generation, PETA India offers its Compassionate Citizen humane education programme to teachers for free. It is designed for students between the ages of 8 and 12 and teaches them the importance of being kind to animals.

PETA India – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way” – opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETAIndia.com or follow PETA India on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
