Mapusa: Dempo Sports Club stormed to a convincing 3-1 win over Bidesh XI SC in the Goa Professional League football tournament at Duler Stadium on Friday,.
dempo, fueled by a Mevan Dias header, took a 1-0 lead into halftime. The breakthrough came in the 42nd minute when Topon Minj’s pinpoint cross found Mevan, who rose high to nod home.
Dempo doubled their lead in the 71st minute through Necio Fernandes, who finished calmly after a brilliant long ball from Salgeo Dias.
Bidesh clawed one back in the 87th minute through Prathamesh Gaonkar, but Dempo sealed the win deep into stoppage time when Laximanrao Rane capitalized on a defensive error, rounded the keeper, and tapped into an empty net.
The win sees Dempo consolidate their position in the league, while Bidesh will look to regroup for their next match.
