No. 1 Goa Naval NCC Cadets Celebrate 150 Years of Vande Mataram

Goa, November 7:
The cadets of No. 1 Goa Naval Unit NCC observed the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram” with great patriotic fervour at the Multipurpose Sports Complex, Campal, Goa. About 600 cadets from various schools and colleges of Goa participated in the solemn ceremony, celebrating the enduring spirit of the iconic national song written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1875.

The event commenced with the ceremonial parade and hoisting of the NCC ensign, followed by the collective singing of Vande Mataram that echoed through the complex, evoking pride and emotion among all present. The Commanding Officer of the unit addressed the cadets, highlighting the song’s historical significance in India’s freedom movement and its relevance today in inspiring youth to serve the nation with dedication and unity.

The National Cadet Corps in Goa functions under the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Goa, under the overall guidance of the Hon’ble Minister for Sports and the Director of Sports and Youth Affairs. Their continued support has been instrumental in promoting youth development and discipline through NCC activities across the state.

The ANOs (Associate NCC Officers) and CTOs (Care Taker Officers) were lauded for their mentorship and dedicated guidance in shaping disciplined, responsible cadets. The event concluded with a pledge by all participants to uphold the values of patriotism, integrity, and service to the nation.

The Vande Mataram celebration by the Goa Naval NCC stood as a reminder that while India strides confidently into the future, its strength continues to flow from the timeless devotion to the Motherland — “Vande Mataram!”
