A Step Towards Transforming Local Sports Landscape
Calangute: The Poriat Football Ground in Calangute is set to undergo a major transformation, with plans to upgrade its facilities and infrastructure. A team of officials, including Calangute MLA and Chairman of GSIDC, Michael Lobo, recently inspected the ground to chalk out plans for its refurbishment. The team included General Manager (Civil)-II, GSIDC, Shripad Valaulicar, Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira, Secretary Arjun Velip, Panch members, Social Worker Ashton Santamaria, and football enthusiasts.
The proposed upgrades include a new sand bed and natural turf, improved drainage systems, upgraded spectator stands, and modern changing rooms with essential facilities. Once completed, the ground is expected to become a premier sports destination, providing a better sporting experience for locals and aspiring athletes.
The move is seen as a significant boost to the local sports scene, with football enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the ground’s revamp. The upgraded facilities are expected to attract more players, promote sports development, and provide a platform for local talent to shine.
