Law & Order at its lowest ebb under BJP
MAPUSA: Aldona Congress MLA Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira on Tuesday hit out at the ruling government for having allowed law and order to collapse in the state in order that they can have a free run at collecting commissions at the expense of law breakers and called on the people to kick the ruling BJP out of the state.
Speaking via a video message, Adv Carlos said that the time was ripe to demand the removal of the government from the state.
“I’m left to wonder what might have been the reason behind the fight. One it could be because the sand mining is illegal. It could be that there is a partner involved in the illegal sand mining who has not received his due share of money or commission, there could be a godfather who has not received his share of the spoils. The second part concerns the police investigation. Will the police investigation uncover who is the godfather behind this?” Adv Carlos said.
“The days of calling these incidents shocking are long over. What exactly is going on? We’ve been saying that law and order has collapsed in Goa but each time it finds a new low. Gang wars outside the police station. Gang wars in Margao, and now a gun fight over illegal sand mining,” he added.
“Even if the police catch the culprits, I can guarantee you that the police will suppress who the mastermind is and his name will not be revealed. This government runs on commission. Law and order is collapsing in Goa because this government is making money on allowing people to break the law,” Adv Carlos also said.
“I can assure you one thing, nothing of this sort happened during the Congress days. But in BJP time, the whole country is suffering from this collapse. The BJP’s own workers are taking the law into their own hands, threatening people, killing them, attacking them and indulging in shameful criminal acts. Such is the situation that we have to throw the BJP government out of power,” he said adding that “Goa is no more the Mankulem Goa that we knew it to be.”
