Goans gather at Lal Chowk to celebrate Shaurya Diwas

Srinagar, October 27: A group of Goans gathered at the historic Lal Chowk in Srinagar to celebrate Shaurya Diwas, paying tribute to the brave Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country.

The event was organized by the pilgrimage department of Gyan Deep Prathisthan Trust, Mapusa, which had organized a Vaishno Devi pilgrimage for around 20 Goan pilgrims. The seniors paid homage to the national flag and lit lamps in memory of the martyred soldiers.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sushant Tandel, trustee of Gyan Deep Prathisthan and head of the pilgrimage, said, “On October 27, 1947, the Indian Army’s infantry landed in Srinagar and repelled the Pakistani invaders, saving Jammu and Kashmir. This day is celebrated as Shaurya Diwas every year to commemorate that bravery.also present was member of member of Dnynadeep Pratishtan Bharat Betkekar

The event was a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian soldiers who protected the country
