“Violent Clash Outside Panaji Police Station Leaves 7 Arrested, Multiple Injured”
PanajI: A violent clash erupted outside the Panaji Police Station on Sunday morning, leaving multiple individuals injured and seven people arrested. The altercation involved two rival groups, each consisting of several individuals, who began abusing and assaulting each other with fists and kicks despite police attempts to intervene.
According to the complaint filed by Head Constable Satish Maje, the incident occurred around 6:15 a.m. on October 26, 2025. The groups were identified as Devu Kawas, Jyoti Kawas, Roshni Kawas, and Sohil Kawas from Ramnagar, Alto Betim, and Imran Kaburgi, Yakub Wallikar, and Mubarak Bhandari from Chimbel and Bambolim.
During the brawl, one individual allegedly used an iron knuckle duster, while another reportedly used pepper spray, resulting in injuries to several people, including Yakub Wallikar, who sustained fractures to his left leg and hand.
The police have registered an offense under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and have taken all seven accused into custody. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the altercation and sequence of events leading up to the assault ¹
