“Eight Accused in Honda Outpost Violence Case Granted Bail”

Merces: The Additional Sessions Court in Merces has granted conditional bail to eight individuals arrested in connection with the violence outside the Honda police outpost on the eve of Diwali. The accused, including Asif Sheikh, Sudesh Gaonkar, Anand Chawan, Sanju Chawan, Rohit Bandekar, Nitesh Kodalkar, Suhas Rane, and Mahesh Chari, were granted bail on executing a personal bond of ₹15,000 each with one surety of like amount.

The court directed the accused to appear before the investigating officer as and when required, not interfere with the complainant and prosecution witnesses, and not tamper with the prosecution evidence.

The court also granted interim relief to Honda Sarpanch Shivdas Madkar and panchayat member Krishna Gaonkar, who have also been booked in the same case. The accused were alleged to have formed an unlawful assembly, criminally trespassed the premises of the Honda police outpost, and criminally intimidated the complainant, Rupesh Poke, causing injury and damaging his vehicle. A case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. The investigation is ongoing.
