Minister Sudin Dhavalikar Urges End to Narkasur Competitions Amid Concerns Over Safety and Public Disturbance

Ponda: Goa’s Narkasur celebrations have taken a concerning turn, with rising instances of violence and misconduct. According to Sudin Dhavalikar, the festivities have become a source of disturbance for residents, particularly in densely populated areas.

The politician highlighted several issues, including the use of firecrackers and explosives that burst throughout the night, loud metal music that shakes entire colonies, and fights over money distribution. Moreover, children collecting funds for the celebrations often indulge in unruly behavior, while the burning of effigies poses a significant safety risk.

Dhavalikar questioned the role of politicians in encouraging these activities by providing financial support for the celebrations. “Who is patronizing them?” he asked, emphasizing the need to stop the competitions.

The demand to end Narkasur competitions has sparked a debate about balancing cultural traditions with public safety and order. As the issue continues to unfold, residents and authorities are left wondering if it’s time to reconsider the way these celebrations are conducted.
