Mapusa: A dramatic rescue unfolded in Akoi on Monday evening when a group of firefighters from Mapusa rushed to Campal Apartment on an emergency call after an automatic door malfunctioned, trapping a family inside their second-floor flat where a potentially disastrous gas stove fire had erupted.
Leading Firefighter Shri Suraj Shetgaonkar described the tense moments as the team battled to rescue those inside. “We received a distress call at 15:56 hours reporting 
the automatic door stuck, trapping the occupants,” he said.
The incident highlights the growing concerns over safety measures in residential buildings. “This incident underscores the importance of regular checks on automatic doors and fire safety equipment,” said Shetgaonkar.
No casualties were reported in the incident, and the family was safely rescued. The authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter.
